History

 

• Around 5000 years ago Bahrain was home to the Bronze Age civilization of Dilmun.
   
• Which lasted some two millenia. Since then Bahrain has been occupied alternately by Babylonians, Sumerians, Greeks, Persians, Portuguese, and Turks, among others. The Dilmun Empire: The Dilmuns were powerful and influential people.
   
• The history of Bahrain is a narrative woven with ancient civilizations, maritime trade, and strategic significance Situated in the Arabian Gulf, Bahrain has a history dating back to the Dilmun civilization in the Bronze Age, known for its advanced urban centers and trade links with Mesopotamia. Over the centuries, Bahrain has been a part of various empires, including the Persian Empire, Portuguese Empire, and Ottoman Empire. In the 19th century, the Al Khalifa family consolidated power and established the Emirate of Bahrain.
   
• The archipelago became a British protectorate in the early 20th century and gained independence in 1971. Bahrain has since developed into a modern and prosperous nation, with a diversified economy, a vibrant culture, and a strategic geopolitical position in the Gulf region. Its history reflects a harmonious blend of ancient traditions and contemporary progress.
